01 / THE NEXT STEP

Begin with a task someone recognises

Choose one thing a viewer might actually want to accomplish. A demo of “creating and sharing a project” gives you a clearer story than a tour of every button.

Write a one-sentence opening that names the task and the result. Give the viewer enough context to understand why the next action matters. You can leave the full product introduction for another recording.

02 / THE NEXT STEP

Set up the starting point

Prepare the workspace before you record. Open the page where the task begins and use content that is safe to show. Make sure the steps you want to demonstrate are available.

Walk through the task once without recording. Notice anything that requires waiting, searching, or explaining an unrelated setup. Decide whether the viewer needs to see it or simply needs a short explanation.

Show the task.
Explain the choice.
Make the result clear.
03 / THE NEXT STEP

Give every action a reason

Your script does not have to narrate every movement of the cursor. Explain the decisions that help someone understand the task: what you are choosing, why you are choosing it, and what changes next.

Try a simple sequence: “Here is the starting point. Here is the action. Here is the result.” Repeat that pattern only where the viewer needs it. Allow a pause when something on the screen deserves attention.

04 / THE NEXT STEP

Keep the screen and script together

Place the script where you can read it without repeatedly looking away from the camera. Keep the demonstration window easy to follow, and move through the same sequence you rehearsed.

If a step goes wrong, stop and identify what changed. You may only need to repeat a small section. Keep your explanation aligned with what the viewer can actually see instead of rushing into the next line.

05 / THE NEXT STEP

End on a visible result

Show the completed task. Let the viewer see the new project, exported file, or changed screen before moving to your closing line. A demo is easier to understand when the outcome is visible.

Finish with one relevant next step. Then review the recording for clarity: does the opening name the task, do the actions follow a logical order, and does the ending show that the task is complete?
